Ellie Brown (b.1999) is a stone carver whose work explores the female form, engaging with the natural qualities of the stone to reveal movement, presence, and abstraction. Most of the time, rather than imposing an image, she works with the material’s inherent form, allowing figures to emerge through a balance of control and intuition. By carefully carving the surface, Brown creates a sense of skin—subtle shifts in texture and depth suggesting the body’s softness within the hardness of stone.

Ellie first picked up a mallet and chisel in 2018, and sculpture has been central to her practice ever since. Her work has been exhibited in Cornwall, London, and France, with a public sculpture permanently placed in the south of France. Ellie studied Fine Art at Falmouth University (2017–2020) before completing a Master’s at Central Saint Martins (2022–2024). In 2024, she was named Penwith Young Artist of the year, including a solo exhibition in the Penwith Gallery. Beyond her own practice, Ellie regularly teaches stone carving both from her studio and at New Brewery Arts in Cirencester, sharing the knowledge and passion for the craft.
